There Should Be A Place Where Only The Things You Want To Happen, Happen.

Playing with crayons is fun, and that's just what I did this weekend.

It started with playing with a crayon in my art journal.

White Crayon + Stencil + Art Journal

Add some Ink and water and you get this. How cool!

Now add this effect to a layout and you get.

Date, this is when it happened.

 An autumn adventure.

It sure was a good time.

What new technique or scrappy product have you used this weekend?

Something Old Something New

Over this wet and miserable weekend feeling all snuffly with a silly head cold. I spent a lot of my time on the lounge or in bed with my laptop watching YouTube mix media videos. I noticed a lot of the latest videos they worked in an art journal.
Well last night when I finally started to feel better (and could keep my head down without my nose running) I decided that I would start one of these art journals.
I have been making mix media canvas on and off for the last two years so transferring what I know into a journal would be easy. I also though that I can use this art journal to practice new techniques in it as well.

Today I want to share my first page in my NEW ART JOURNAL.

Everyone has to start off with a blank canvas.

I added my colours first. Here I have used a variety of spray mists, and then rolled paper towel over them to soak up the extra moisture.

Then I used stencils, paints, paper and assorted textures.

This art journal has given me the courage to drag out the old Making Memories foam stamps.

I wanted to add a bit of me to this journal so I added a hand written title, and then some stamping.

And there you have it, my first entry in my new art journal.
Another happy mix media piece of art work to admire.

Oh and here is a preview of my next two pages....got to love textured clouds. :)

Who else out there loves to get messy playing with mixed media?

My Brain Is So Wired And The Clouds Are Weeping

Hello Bloggers.
Tonight I wanted to ask what is your remedy to getting over a head cold and quickly???

Waking this morning to a stuffy head and a runny nose is not the best way to get ready for a scrappy weekend.
Why oh why must this cursed head cold hit me now when I have heaps and heaps of scrappy ideas in my head, that I really want to put on to paper.
Tell me can you scrap with a head cold? There is nothing worse then putting your head down while you have a runny nose.

Well enough of  my boo hoo's. I hope you are all well and able to scrap this weekend.

So Much Joy From Such A Simple Thing

Today I want to share with you all how I organise myself, to get ready to scrap a layout.

I like to gather all of my ingredients for a layout before I start.
First I start with the photo/photos. With this layout I have printed my photos wallet size and I am using two photos.
The next step is getting my background which is normally card stock. I normally work with a plain background and I will add to this using mediums of pattern paper or both.

When I add pattern paper it could be scraps or a whole sheet which I will cut up, after choosing these I rummage through my embellishments. I like to gather as many as possible and I try to keep them simple as they are the topping to the photo, and not to busy to distract from it.

Along the process of making a layout I might not use everything I have out. I know that sometimes I might grab something from my stash that I may have forgotten about. But most of the time  I like to use what I have out in front of me.
Once I have everything gathered I like to look at what’s there and think about how I want to use them to express the photos.
I have a writing pad on my desk and while I am thinking, I jot down title ideas and journaling ideas.
Sometimes I may use Pinterest or a Scrapbooking gallery site to spark an idea, but I never copy. I like my work to be as original as possible.
When I have that "light bulb" moment I get my scrap on and work away until it’s complete.

Remember if you are using mediums such as paints, mist or other items like these a heat gun comes in very handy to speed the drying process.

This layout that I am sharing with you today "Its That Smile" only took me an hour and half to complete because all of the ingredients was there and ready to go.

I think most of us out there work this way or maybe you don't. For myself I find working this way quicker and I can complete a layout faster.

How do you get a layout ready to scrap? I would love to know.

I Know Two Girls That Put The Color Inside Of My World

On Sunday the 12th of May it was Mothers Day.
On that day all I wanted to do was take my family out somewhere, anywhere and take photos. That was the gift I wanted this year.
Capturing beautiful moments with my family.

This weekend I had the chance to finally edit and print some of those photos and to scrap.

Here is a layout with one of those photos.

What a lovely Sunday it was.

My girls and I on Mothers day.

I wish sometimes, that all my days could be like this one.

A Girl Ought To Have A Sense Of Humor.

Being armed with a camera most of the time while on outings with the family means I can snap those moments you want to capture and record for later on.
It also means that I can capture those funny off the cuff moments, like this one of Grace. I asked her to turn around to me for a photo and this is what I got.

The fun begins with something to catch the eye.

Remembering the date and what I wanted her to do all with a bit of Flair.

Journaling with my Dymo seem to be the go at the moment.

With one click of the shutter button and we have a shot that makes us laugh every time we look at it.

And now I have a funny page for her album.

Do you scrap those one off shots that just keep you laughing long after the event?
I know I sure do.

Thanks for popping by.

Its Not A Party, Until You Have A Go In The Photo Booth.

Playing again with my D-lish, Freckled Fawn wood chip frames, I did this layout about my Sarah's 9th birthday party.

It was a party filled with sugar (ice cream bar) and giggles thanks to a home made photo booth.

Flair to say how much I love this photo.

An embellishment here and there,

and just a little here too.

A message to remind her what we did, and how she looked.

She has a 9th birthday to remember and a mum that was pretty wrap with how it all turned out.

Now what idea will I come up with for next years birthday party?

Thanks for popping by.
Cheers Kylie
