Happiness Is When What You Think, What You Say, and What You Do Are In Harmony

I have been meaning to make my sister in-law a She Art for a long time and time had just slipped away from me.
Well finally this weekend with the help from my newly purchased Prima, Mixed Media Doll Stamp and with the inspiration of  the mood board challenge at Jot Magazine.   I finally completed a She Art for my sister in-law and what perfect timing as it can also be a house warming gift too as they just moved into a new house.

I was lucky enough to purchase two of the new Prima  Julie Nutting Mixed Media Doll Stamps from the Craft and Quilt Fair here in Hobart this month.

I first messed around stamping my dolls and playing with different ways to dress them.

Once I had the girls dressed it was time to get one on to canvas.

I love using mod podge to get that shine on a canvas.

With this doll I layered the dress, by stamping it on to pattern paper cutting it out and mounting it with magic mount.

Every She Art needs a title and a misted, painted chipboard was the way to go on this canvas.

And you have "She Deserved True Happiness"

A canvas completed in colours I know my sister in-law likes and a quote that I hope she will look upon every day and remember that she only deserves complete happiness.

What off the page project or gift have you made lately?

Let Your Feet Hit The Ground

Last week Cocoa Daisy blogged a fun "Scrap her Style Challenge" and the Cocoa Daisy team member was the one and only Sharmaine Kruijver

I am truly lucky to personally know Sharmaine as she is a fellow Tasmanian, and we live close by and we can catch up for a coffee every now and then if our busy lives will let us.
I have always found Sharmaine's work very inspiring and she is a great sounding board for my scrappy life and a awesome listener.

With this challenge the hardest part was picking one of the many amazing layouts created by Sharmaine, but finally after strolling through her online gallery at Cocoa Daisy I found this one.

Pink Day

I really love how Sharmaine uses paper and I love that she uses layers on a lot of her layouts, and wanted to give it ago.

Here I go.
Those layers.

Stitching and that awesome doodling.

Telling the story.

X country (cross country)

I am really pleased with my take on Sharmaine's  "Pink Day" layout and I really enjoyed making my version. Pop on over to Cocoa Daisy and check out Sharmaine gallery you might find that inspirations that you might be just looking for.

Who have your lifted lately?

Some Where Over The Rainbow.

This weekend I ventured into territory unknown to me.

Yep that territory was baking. I can do it, but not very often and not as elaborate as this creation.

My beautiful daughter Grace turned 14 on Sunday and for ages I have always wanted to buy or maybe make a rainbow cake for her.
I have seen so many of them posted on various sites and they have always fascinated me.
So on Saturday evening I plunge in feet first to the would of multiple baking, food colouring, and massive amounts of icing and something that said would take 2 hours turned into 4.

I got my recipe from this site and I brought Greens Vanilla packet mixes and followed their instructions to make their batter. I used 3 packets instead of 2 as my baking pans where larger in size. I use Queen Food colouring as I could not find Betty Crocker® classic gel food colors. When using the Queen’s colours don't be afraid to use quite a few drops to get that deep colour. Oh and the colouring does not change the taste to the vanilla cake mix.

I separated the plain vanilla batter into 6 different bowls and added the colour to each bowl.
Remember to make orange its yellow and red together and to make purple use blue and red colouring together.  When mixing the colours just use small amount at a time and then keep adding until you achieve the right colour.

When your cakes have baked for 20 minutes, let them cool for 10 minutes and then turn them out onto a cooling rack for another 10 minutes to cool. I made the mistake of not cutting my cakes to make them flat for staking. So if you wish for your cake to look like a neater stack CUT THEM!!!

I iced my cake using the icing from the Green vanilla cake mixes.  I did make the mistake of not creaming my butter before adding the icing powder hence why my icing isn't fluffy. But hey everyone has to have a learning curve while creating something.
Be aware that you may have to make more if your cakes are larger they make quite a big stack, be ready to do a lot of icing.

And here it first every rainbow cake, and even though I'm not a baker I am truly pleased with my effort for a first timer.

Oh just for fun and for those who are not following me on Facebook or YouTube here is the video of my daughter and I cutting the cake for her birthday last night.
Be warned there is squealing in this video and could hurt some peoples hearing....Oh and its me by the way...LOL

I hope some of you out there give it a go and if you have already please post a comment below with a link to yours so I can check it out. :)

Knocking Them Down, One Pin At A Time.

All week the lovely owner of D-lish, Amanda Lawrence as been offering 4th Birthday Bonanza prizes and a challenge.
I have made sure I have entered most of the prizes that have been offered this week on the
D-lish Facebook page and Blog. I also completed the Challenge Amanda had set.

Here is the inspiration board Amanda had set before us all.

I found that the colours and the sketch very inspiring.

The idea of adding triangles where a must to and I really wanted to use my new TWC Template.

Adding texture to a simple layout adds just that little bit more.

And of course the story behind the page had to be shared.

There you have it, a fun layout about bowling with the kids during school holidays.
and some great inspiration to get the creative juices flowing.

Thanks Amanda for the inspiration board and thanks for turning 4 and having a week of fun and chances to win some awesome prizes :)

I hope all of you out there with your children on school holidays are surviving.

Thanks for popping by.

Giving It A Go.

You know the old saying  "You'll never win it, unless you're in it"

Well in the last two months I have been a busy little scrapper making goodies for the  Scrapbooking Memories 2014 Masters.
For the first time in all my years of scrapbooking I plucked up the courage to enter.

I know that this might sound weird to some, but I'm not worried about winning, it seems that my competitive side of me is subdued with the satisfied feeling of just entering this amazing challenge and completing all task required.
I am just truly pleased with myself that I entered and that like the rest of the scrappers that have entered too, I am in there with a chance.
To be able to share my work with other is an amazing feeling and this is another bonus to scrapbooking. I am really happy to be posting this parcel off on Tuesday with smile on my face and a feeling of complete satisfaction.

Wish me luck!

Reminiscing Of The Warmer Weather.

Inspired by a challenge set by the ladies at Black With 2 Challenge Blog, I completed a layout on Monday night.

The inspiration came from theses lovely colour palette.

A little bit of paint, stenciling and some flair.

Loving this new green washi tape. Purchased from Anna"s Crafting Cupboard  Lime Green Trees

Doodling on the title to give it a little pop.

And  there is always the story.

Staying cool of a summer is a must and sometimes you don't want to come home all covered in sand so its a trip to the Aquatic Centre for a splashy good time.

Where do you like to go of a summer to stay cool the beach or the pool?

Do You Ever Wonder If The Stars Shine Out For You?

With the leaves changing colour and the days getting shorter, going outside seems such a rare thing. Hibernating in the warmth of our home seems to be the pleasure of Autumn/Winter.
But that one off chance to escape outside on a sunny Autumn day for a photo shoot makes it pleasure to experience the change of the seasons.

I just love these delicate leaves.

It was such a beautiful day taking photos of my beautiful family.

The Colours of Autumn.

And the textures of Autumn

Its a beautiful Autumn with a beautiful girl.

How do you spend your Autumn/Winter days?
