No More Dog Ears!

Last night my daughter started reading a new book she brought, and complained that she didn't have a book mark and that she was using the receipt.

So this was my queue, to venture into my scrap room and make her one.

Using one of my Prima Mixed Media Dolls.

She is ready for her tag.

Textured, spayed, inked and stamped.

Shaded and needing her words.

And this morning she is finished.

She is ready to be placed in that book.

Happy reading Boo, may you never loose your spot again.

101 Survival For The Zombie Apocalypse

101 Dress up and blend in with all the other Zombies.

Make sure you have plenty of blood.

Make sure you have the vacant facial expression down pat.

Be that bit kooky or weirdly insane.

Or just innocent but deadly.

But in the end remember to be SCARY!!!!

The Cornish family dressing up and having a bit of fun at the annual Zombie March in Hobart this weekend.

How Quick Does Time Fly?

Yes I know that there is only 4 months left of the school year.
But we all know that old saying "better to be late than never" I scrapped a photo of the kids on their first day of school.

Its busy and fun and that's what a school year should be like.

Doing my own graffiti.

Making sure that the first day of school photos are always fun and funny.

And of course stating the obvious.

What the year holds for these 3.

Finally their first day scrapped and ready for the family album.

Yes this year is going way to fast, do you feel the same??

Hurry Hurry Hurry Time Is Running Out

Just a reminder that this month at Black with 2, we have set the colour challenge for the month and you only have 11 more days to get your creations posted on the blog.

Here is the inspiration board to get the colour combo flowing.

This months colour combos are teals and oranges and don't forget that all important black.

I have completed my layout for the month to help you get you inspired.

Textured paste and a dotty stencil to keep the theme going.

Button and Bling...yes please

Word of inspiration.

Highlighting the title and that added touch of Flair.

A layout about my eldest DD and showing off those great colours for the month at Black With 2.

I hope to see you over at Black With 2 sharing your creations for this month too.

Teenagers, They Are Funny Creatures

It's not often I get photos of my teenage sons as they seem to be shy creatures, specially when I have my camera out.
But on those one off moments I can get a photo I have to scrap it.

With the help of the new Mood Board at Jot Magazine I had the inspiration to create this layout of my youngest teenage son, Zachary.

What and awesome mood board of black and white, how could I not scrap a layout.

It started off with using my retro bubbles stencil and some black dylusions spray.

Then adding black and white embellishments with that added touch of sliver.

Everyone has a story to tell even a camera shy teenager, and as he grows and turn into a young man I will never stop scrapping about him and telling his story.

Grow Old, Along With Me

I wanted to really scrap this weekend just gone.  But being busy in the kitchen on Saturday and then helping the girls for most of the day with their canvas shoes on Sunday. I really only got a short time in my room before dinner and the whole getting ready for the week thing that happens in our house.

So in the half an hour I had, I completed this simple layout.
I used a new scrappy item I acquired last week in my scrappy parcel from D-lish, the Memory Maze chipboard arrow words. To jazz it up a little I used my glue stamp pad and glittered it.

IMG_1433 copy

I used the lyric from a Michael Buble song “L.O.V.E”  as the pattern paper for this layout and I keep the embellishments to a minim to let the photo be the hero on the page.

Here you have it, a quick and simple layout that expresses everything that the photo does.

How quickly can you pull a layout together?

The Fun Will Never End, Its Adventure Time!

On the weekend we had a cooking/crafty time.
I cooked all day Saturday and the girls and I both did craft on Sunday.

One of the most exciting items to come out of our weekend was the girls decorating some white canvas shoes, and today I wish to share them with you.

We brought white canvas shoes from Kmart, $4 for children and $6 for adults.

Sarah decided that she would like Adventure Time (Favorite cartoon in this house hold) themed shoes.
So with that idea her sister (Grace) pre drew some of the images ready to be drawn on to her shoes.

As Grace transferred those images on to Sarah's shoes, I traced all the image with black Sharpies fabric markers.

Sarah had the fun of colouring all the images.

It was a great day working with the girls on this fun project.

We used both Sharpies Fabric markers and Bic Mark It markers on them. (Be careful with the Bic Mart It Markers if you use them, they can bleed on fabric so be careful with your colouring.)

The fun part was finally getting to put them on to wear.

She already asked if she can wear them to school.

If you are ever stuck for a rain day project I would suggest this one.
It was such great fun to change a pair of plain old canvas shoes into a cool piece of walking art.

What have you altered lately?

Have A Break, Have A Kit Kat.

OK maybe 14 in fact.

Yes again I venture into baking territory and this time its was a kit kat cake for Zachary's 15th birthday.

It started off with three cake mixes, two chocolate and one vanilla.

This time I remembered to trim all the cakes so they sat straight and it also made it easier to cover with icing.

Walla, A kit kat cake with a smartie topping.   YUM!

And check out the inside once cut, it looks pretty good to me.

Happy 15th birthday Zachary I hope you enjoyed your cake.
